I prefer the dry season from December to April to escape the European winter, to experience fewer mosquitos, less humidity and heat. The best month is April, already fewer crowds in Yucatan except for Easter holidays. Less crowded early morning before tour busses arrive.

Coba is an ancient Mayan city deep in the Yucatan jungle. It consists of a large complex of ruins. Still not as popular as Chichen Itza. One of the main attractions for visitors; the pyramid is still open for the public to climb the 130 steps to the top with spectacular views. It is one of the tallest pyramids with 42 m/138 feet height in Yucatan. It is possible to rent a bike or to hire a guide. We preferred to walk independently with a map of the area. Bring insect repellent also in the dry season! We combined Coba and Tulum in one day.
