Location and Tips
The dry deciduous forest is absolutely worth to visit. It is privately managed and not a National Park, the reason that night walks are allowed. At the ""cool"" and dry season reptiles and amphibians are hibernating. During the rainy season the forest changes completely.
It's a two hours' drive from Morondava therefore a bit crowded at daytime. Kirindy is a private reserve offering terrific night and day walks. The guides are very experienced and kind. It was a spectacular stay. We discovered several night active lemurs like Madam Berthe's Mouse Lemur, grey mouse lemur, red tailed western sportive lemur, also chameleons and the highlight was the Fossa. They offer simple bungalows, and we didn't care about food. Anyway, the staff is friendly and helpful, wildlife and birding are stunning. At daytime you might see the verreaux's sifakas. We discovered several with babies at the end of October.
