When Is the Best Time

The seabird breeding season starts in November with its peak from December to February. In March and April, you already spot fewer tropicbirds breeding under bushes. These months are also the best ones to spot boobies breeding.

Weather

The drier season from January to May is the best time for your vacation on Trinidad and Tobago. Showers occur throughout the year. During the rainy season, it frequently rains each day, but the sky clears up in between. There is often a short break between mid-September until mid-October Luckily, Trinidad and Tobago are south of the hurricane belt and hardly experience any hurricane. Unfortunately, Tobago got hit twice once in September 1963 and again in September 2004. Even now you can see the immense devastation in the forests from the hurricane in 2004.

Trinidad & Tobago

The uninhabited island is located east of Tobago close to Speyside and is called Little Tobago Island. There are several boat tours offered some include snorkeling afterwards which we enjoyed a lot. A guided tour leads along the island to several places and lookouts. It's a great opportunity to spot tropicbirds at their nest relatively close. Also, other seabirds can be seen as different species of boobies and frigatebirds. The frigatebirds harass boobies, pelicans, and gulls until they drop their catch.
