When Is the Best Time
Due to snow and ice in higher elevation, the via ferrata is accessible from June to October only. It's cold in the morning during September and October. It's more pleasant if you start at midday clockwise to enjoy the warmth of the sun while climbing. It's busier here during summer in July and August, but rarely crowded.
Close to the end is a tyrolienne - zip wire traverse. You can circumvent it nowadays or you rent the equipment in an outdoor shop before.

Location and Tips
The via ferrata starts in Blatten, 20 minutes drive from Brig on 1436 meters elevation. The climb starts behind the information board shortly after the parking area. The climb leads clockwise along the western bank of the reservoir Gibidium until crossing the dam via a long suspension bridge and back along the eastern bank. Depending on the reservoir's water level, you almost touch the water surface, which is more likely to happen in June. The via ferrata is well secured, but almost too much iron. The climb is 3 km long and takes 3-4 hours. It is much fun, not very challenging with excellent views. Difficulty level: K3-K4. We did it without any issues with our 13 years old nephew.
After half of the climb you reach the 40 m high and 80 m long suspension bridge, a trail leads up to Belalp. It's an impressive view to Aletsch glacier from there, but you may need to stay for a night at the Belalp Hotel.
